/about me

I was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1966. I’m married, currently grandad of 5 kids and living by the sea in the outskirts of the city.

In my early 20's, one of my brothers offered me a small east german analogic camera (Beroquick) which triggered my passion for photography. I would go outdoors taking pictures just for the fun of it. Later, I saved money to buy a Yashica reflex camera and a few years after a Nikon. I still keep all these three but Leica is my passion nowadays.
What I love most about photography is the ability to freeze candid moments, to discover unexpected angles in everyday situations, to capture people’s emotions and tell visual stories.

National Geographic is my main photography reference since childhood, but Leica Fotografie International, LensCulture, World Photography Organization or British Journal of Photography are some other photography sources where I seek inspiration from, as well as photographers such as André Boto, Joel Soares, Alan Laboile, Karine Puret, Muhammed Muheisen, Yassine Alaoui Ismaili (Yoriyas) or Aaron Huey, just to name a few.

I’m a self-taught photographer and since 2009 I’ve been a volunteer photographer for Hillsong Portugal. Between 2017 and 2019 I had the chance to learn personally with Alexandre Serra the art and secrets of fashion photography in his Fashion Photography Workshop. One of the things that drives me most about this specific kind of photography is the ability to bring out in pictures the best of everyday people and let their real self show on photos as if they were experient models. Also since 2017, I’ve been hosting a radio show about the basics of photography for kids on Rádio Miúdos (Kids Radio).
